Delete your ScanSmart account
This page explains how to permanently delete your ScanSmart account and the data we hold about you. You can start the process directly here without needing to install the app.
Request deletion online
Enter the email address on your ScanSmart account. We will send you a one-time confirmation link. Once you click it, your account and all associated data will be permanently removed.
Or from inside the app
If you still have ScanSmart installed and signed in:
- Open ScanSmart.
- Tap the Settings tab in the bottom navigation.
- Scroll to Account.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
What is deleted
Confirming a deletion request (online or in-app) permanently removes:
- Your account record (name, email, password hash, preferences).
- All scanned documents, including their multi-page images and OCR text.
- All folders you created and their metadata.
- Cloud-stored copies of your scanned images.
- All active sign-in sessions.
What we keep
We retain only:
- Anonymized server access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for up to thirty days, used solely to detect abuse and debug platform issues. These logs are not linked back to your identity after deletion.
- Aggregate counts that cannot be tied back to any individual.
If you don't have access to the account email
If you can no longer receive email at the address on the account, write to support@scansmart.app with the subject "Delete account request" and any details that help us verify it's you (approximate signup date, full name on the account). We respond within five business days and act on verified requests within thirty days.
Locally stored data on your device
If you used Guest mode, or scanned documents while signed in but hadn't yet synced them to the cloud, those files live in the app's own storage on your device. Uninstalling ScanSmart from Android removes that local storage.
